President's Message

Welcome to the Bermuda Human Resource Association ("BHRA") website!

It is my honour and pleasure to serve as the President of the BHRA this year. For 2019, the Executive Board has developed a clear strategic plan, which was created by using the feedback provided by the 2018 Membership Feedback Survey, and continues to focus on delivering value to our members. Our strategic plan includes:

Research opportunities for local HR certification and/or local certification study sessions. Our Professional Development Chairperson will be looking into various options with SHRM and HRCI to bring local testing opportunities.

Revitalize our website. The Executive Board will assess options for a new website, incorporating features our members consider valuable.

Continue to provide information sessions - we will continue to offer a variety of professional development events with topics that are based on our membership’s priorities. We will focus on securing recognized local speakers (e.g. Government Ministers) as well as international speakers.

Increase our HR body of knowledge - we will continue to focus on producing HR leading practice research (Bermuda and International), sharing information more regularly on our website, and linking survey findings from information sessions.

Strengthen government relationships and strategic partnerships - our aim is to ensure that the BHRA is a trusted advisor for HR professionals, employers, Government officials and the general public.

One of our most important mandates is to influence the HR landscape in Bermuda during these unprecedented times. I truly believe we are uniquely positioned to do this effectively as the Executive Board is comprised of a number of enthusiastic and committed Human Resources professionals, who are dedicated to discussing current HR issues and topics in addition to serving our members. Together, we are committed to keeping members informed about legislative and policy changes as they occur. It is important that all BHRA members are active participants. We encourage you to visit this website frequently to stay informed of upcoming events. Your feedback and suggestions are needed to ensuring our organization retains the positive position it has enjoyed over the years among HR professionals and within the community.
